Statement:

The illusion of progress that quietly feeds our own destruction.

We invent, market, and build, constantly trying to perfect what we find imperfect. Yet beneath this drive lies a selfish instinct: to serve ourselves, not the world around us. Every act of creation seems to take something from nature. We cut, burn, consume, believing we’re advancing, while we’re really erasing the very source that sustains us.

The paradox lies here: we think we’re only destroying nature, but in truth, we’re destroying ourselves.

In this painting, the roles are reversed, nature becomes the taker, feeding on humanity instead. What would it feel like if the Earth returned the same direct neglect we show it? Would we finally change? Must humanity only transform when its own survival is at stake?

Ironically, we are already destroying ourselves, but the damage feels distant enough to ignore.

That is the Paradox.

The work asks one simple question: When nature mirrors our actions, how do you feel now?

In destroying nature, we destroy ourselves, yet only when nature destroys us do we begin to care.
